Teaching Approach

"Ability does not develop innately. It is up to you. Each one of us is responsible for developing our own selves." - Dr. Shinichi Suzuki
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki believed every child has the ability to learn. Talent is not innate, but developed through learning and practice. I approach my lessons with this same belief – that everyone, child or adult, has the potential to learn violin if given the right tools. That’s where I come in.
During lessons, I create an inviting, comfortable and fun environment for my students to learn. My teaching emphasizes technique and musicality. Whether playing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star or a more advanced concerto, I encourage students to develop a relationship to the music they are playing.
Lessons incorporate Dr. Suzuki’s observation that talent must be nurtured, both in the lesson and at home. For that reason, parents attend all lessons and are active partners in the student’s learning.
