About Jenelle Birnbaum
From an early age, Jenelle loved the lyrical sound and dramatic repertoire of the violin. She was further drawn to the instrument after watching Itzhak Perlman on Sesame Street. Her determination to play was piqued after hearing some family friends play. She started lessons at age 11.
She has now been playing for over 20 years and is currently a violinist with the Everett Philharmonic Past orchestra experience includes the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras, Boston Civic Orchestra, Tufts University Orchestra and Kamiak High School Orchestra, serving as principal second violin in the latter two. As section leader, she led sectional rehearsals.
Jenelle has trained extensively in the Suzuki Method. A dedicated teacher, she actively seeks out new resources and learning opportunities. She regularly attends summer institutes and participates in the Suzuki Assocation workshops. She also recently completed training in Suzuki Early Childhood Education, a parent-child movement and music class.
Jenelle has toured nationally and internationally. Notable performances include Carnegie Hall, the U.S. Embassy in Pecs, Hungary, and Iceland’s famed Blue Lagoon. In 2001, she was awarded the Northwest Music Teacher’s Scholarship and invited to play in the All State Orchestra. Past teachers include Blayne Barnes, Jan Coleman, Kent Coleman and Karma Tomm.
Jenelle is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and a board member of the Suzuki Association of Washington State. She is also the founder of Little Explorers Music, a music and movement class for children 6-weeks to 4-years-old.
Beyond music, Jenelle enjoys hiking, art, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
